clearing rootfs space. My N900 has started to get sluggish over the past few days and i'm thinking it's something to do with being at 71% roofs. I have transition control and OC to 900/1GHz. I had black plastic theme but it kept crashing my phone, so it's not a case of just using makeshift fixes to be faster. I've also done the apt-get clean, remove etc, but it didn't clear anything. Anyone got any tips on reducing rootfs? Flashing won't help, when i flashed to 1.3 and restored my backup it was still on 69/70%. In terms of installed apps, here's the list: angry birds (1, 2 + 3) AP news desktop widget. Question Info. Replies (10)  quoting from cpitchford : 1) Open these links on your phone. Choose to save the file and save them into the Documents folder on your phone. 2) open an x terminal and run. Got and get a cup of coffee / read a book / have a snooze.. it'll take about 30 minutes or more.. 3) when it is done run this command in the same x terminal: sh MyDocs/.documents/diskspace.sh MyDocs/debug.tgz. It'll show you a table of values.. The first column is the package, the second column is how much root space that package is using (the third column is how much EMMC space the package is using) you will see what installed apps/themes are taking all the roofts, and delete them . and whhy are you still on power 37? 42 is in the extras . Do you have to uninstall 37 to install 42 or just do the 'update' in app manager? Did this solve your problem? Sorry this didn't help. Great! Thanks for marking this as the answer. How satisfied are you with this response? Thanks for your feedback. the 45 has the uboot integrated. a little annoying to me as it do not want to have to wait the additional 5-8 seconds on the boot. but what ever. the kernel is working fine now. as for the rootfs, so long as you have about 65-70mb, that is perfectly normal. i wouldnt worry about it. if your device is feeling sluggish, you may want to try to clean your device a bit. if you have rootsh installed, open xterm sudo gainroot apt-get clean apt-get autoclean. then you can also open your microb and go to a web page and then tap: menu/option/clear private data. clear everything except for your saved passwords. you can alos be sure that all your packages are up-to-date. if you are doing updates on some of the software, there may be some others files that were not working right with them and didnt update yet. open xterm sudo gainroot apt-get update apt-get upgrade if it gives you a y/n request: y, enter. after this is done, apt-get autoremove (to clean any outdated, lingering packages not in use) Did this solve your problem?
